Tellilco Lake Rotary News – October 27, 2016
Our Speaker: Randa Colbert, Hiwassee College Dental Hygiene Program Director
Program: Hiwassee Mobile Dental Unit
Randa briefed us on the Hiwassee College Dental Hygiene program and their new mobile dental unit, that will expand student-learning experiences as they serve children, adults and senior citizens in Monroe and surrounding counties. Their goal is to have the mobile unit out in the community at least twice per month, with the initial target being elementary students. There are still a number of one-time expenses needed to get the unit fully functioning. Our Board will be looking into what can be done to assist from our club foundation and District Grant funds.

Now is the time to make your annual donation of at least $40. Get out your checkbook, make your check payable to “The Rotary Foundation – PolioPlus” and give it to Bob Milhiser. You can also donate directly via credit card through the RI website “My Rotary.”
Improving Access to Education through TRF
It’s an astonishing figure: 57 million children worldwide are not in school. Improving access to education is a key to breaking the cycle of poverty, and Rotarians are working to do just that. Using grants from The Rotary Foundation, members partner with communities to provide affordable textbooks, to integrate technology into the classroom, and to ensure that students have access to clean water. Learn how the Foundation is changing the world through education and help by donating during Rotary Foundation Month.
