Harvey’s Useless Word of the Day: Frivolled – to triffle
Speaker: Harvey Phillips
Program: Harv did a great job with an impromptu program after both scheduled speakers came down sick and canceled. Harv spoke about Riley, his Rough-Coated Collie, and how Riley became Therapy Dog International Certified. Riley visited many nursing homes and schools, but he really starred in reading therapy at Lenoir City andGreenback Elementary Schools, making over 200 visits.
Project Soap & Shampoo
Collect those unused motel soaps, shampoos, and lotions and bring them to our Rotary meetings. Sue will have a box to put them in. This will allow us to donate these personal hygiene items to places like ‘Branches – Shelter for Battered Women’,’ Life Signs’, and ‘Journey of Hope’. Please bring them with you to our meetings and we’ll begin distributing them where needed in our communities. And when we travel, collect the extras and bring them to Rotary.
Silent Auction Items Needed
We need lots of good items for bid at the Sept 16 Dinner Silent Auction. If you have some new useful items around the house, we can turn them into some cash for the TLR Foundation. If you have friends or neighbors with businesses or other connections, donated gift certificates are also quite useful. Or for those creative souls, put together a themed package or basket that would appeal to our audience. Thanks in advance.
