Upcoming February Programs
Thursday Feb 23 – A Surviving POW’s Personal Story
USAF Airman First Class William Robinson’s story begins on a typical mission day in Vietnam – Sept 20, 1965. By the end of that day, Robinson was captured and transported to what was known as the “Hanoi Hilton” by the North Vietnamese Army. There he survived under unthinkable conditions. While many POWs have been interned for a number of years, Bill would endure 7 years and 5 months of captivity – the longest POW internment in US military history.
Search for a New Meeting Location
We are continuing to look for other meeting location options. At the March Board meeting, we will be considering a proposal from the TV First Baptist Church caterer for a possible trail run with a catered lunch option. Stay tuned for more information after the March 2 meeting.
Dictionary Deliveries Paused
The recent school closures for the flu outbreak have brought our dictionary deliveries to an abrupt halt. We will finish up as soon as the schools reopen and the schedules can be confirmed. Two dates will finish up this year: Vonore & Greenback on one date and Tellico Plains, Coker Creek, and Rural Vale on another date. Watch for the volunteer call.
Sevier County Firestorm
The Rotary Distribution Center will likely be closing this week. Look for the DG’s announcement, as some volunteers may still be needed to help close-up the center.
Multi-District Conference Announcement
This year we will be having a MULTI-DISTRICT Conference on April 21-22 in Chattanooga at the Marriott Hotel and Convention Center. Everything at this conference is designed to maximize your fun and good times. Look for additional details over the next few weeks.
Right now it is very important to know that you can do an early bird registration that includes the whole conference and all five of your meals for only $125 per person. This early bird special is ONLY GOOD until MARCH 15th.
To register just follow this link: www.2017discon.com. This will take you to DACdb where you can easily register and also reserve your room at the Marriott hotel for a SPECIAL RATE of only $114 per night.
