Rex Marsee treated us to a glimpse into his colorful life as a motorcycle designer and luggage and clothing accessory inventor.

Program: Rex built his career around his passion for motorcycles. The 1973 Marsee Magnum, his first custom motorcycle design, helped jump-start his career in the industry.  He raced motorcycles and was a design engineer for Harley Davidson. He would later go on to form Rex Marsee Designs in California, which focused on magnetic bags, rain & racing suits, gloves and jackets. Marsee sold his company and served as a consultant until retirement in 2010. He still has a desire to create and a love of design.

● Lots of happy dollars were collected to welcome our new member Jimmy Loyless.
● Train buff Jimmy L waited patiently in Vonore to see the Barnum & Bailey Circus train pass through on Monday.  The circus announced it’s calling it quits after 146 years.
● Jim W will become a first-time grandfather in September.

New Member Induction – Welcome Jimmy!

Jimmy shared a little about his career and his passions to help the disabled.

The March 9 meeting included the induction of new club member Jimmy Loyless.  He was a member of the Rotary Club of Blakely (GA) since 2012 and has relocated to Tellico Village with his wife Beth to be closer to his children in Knoxville. Jimmy retired after 31 years with the F.D.I.C. and still does some financial consulting. If you missed this meeting, please be sure to welcome Jimmy to our Tellico Lake family.  Our roster is now back to 20 members and we have a couple good new member prospects.

All-Star District Conference – April 21-22

The All-Star District Conference will be held on April 21-22, at the Chattanooga Convention Center.  This is a multi-district conference so there will be activities that aren’t normally at the typical district conference.  For details and registration information, go to www.2017DisCon.com.

Rotary Members Meet with EU Officials

More than 240 Rotary members and other guests gathered in Brussels, Belgium, on March 8 for Rotary at the European Union, a special event that explored how Rotary and the European Union can work together to achieve peace.

The meeting was the first of its kind at the European Union (EU) and was modeled on the tradition of Rotary Day at the United Nations. Rotary members, EU officials, and business leaders at the two-hour event asked how business and civil society organizations like Rotary can work with the EU to achieve the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and build more peaceful and stable societies.
